Comprehensive service of a Verity slip-ring motor

A slip-ring motor manufactured by Verity's, which drives a pump, arrived in the workshop for a routine service.

The comprehensive overhaul involved:

• A full strip down and inspection

• Cleaning, testing and varnishing the stator and rotor windings

• Skimming the Slip rings to equal diameters with correct surface finish

• Balancing the rotor

• Fitting new bearings

• Fitting new carbon brushes

• Rebuilding and a final test run

• New paint finish and final inspection
