Modern Slavery Policy

Westin Drives considers that modern slavery encompasses:

    •    Human trafficking

    •    Forced work, through mental or physical threat

    •    Being owned or controlled by an employer through mental or physical abuse or the threat of abuse

    •    Being dehumanised, treated as a commodity or being bought or sold as property

    •    Being physically constrained or to have restriction placed on freedom of movement.

Commitment

Westin Drives acknowledges its responsibilities in relation to tackling modern slavery and commits to complying with the provisions in the Modern Slavery Act 2015.  Westin Drives understands that this requires an ongoing review of its internal practices in relation to its labour force and its supply chains.

Westin Drives does not enter into business with any other organisation, in the United Kingdom or abroad, which knowingly supports or is found to involve itself in slavery, servitude and forced or compulsory labour.

No labour provided to Westin Drives in the pursuance of the provision of its own services is obtained by means of slavery or human trafficking. The Company strictly adheres to the minimum standards required in relation to its responsibilities under relevant employment legislation.

Supply chains

In order to fulfil its activities, the main supply chains of Westin Drives include those related to the supply of goods for re-sale and components for manufacturing and service related work.  We understand that Westin Drives’ first-tier suppliers are intermediary traders and therefore have further contractual relationships with lower-tier suppliers.

Potential exposure

Westin Drives considers its exposure to slavery/human trafficking to be relatively limited. Nonetheless we take steps to ensure that such practices do not take place in our business nor the business of any organisation that supplies goods and/or services to us.

Employees recruited into the company are checked for eligibility to work in the UK and references are sought from previous employers.  Where the company subcontracts work it does so either to self-employed contract staff or to companies who are already preferred suppliers to Westin Drives and/or the company for whom Westin Drives are acting as main contractor.  As such, any subcontractors will have undergone checks to ensure that they are compliant with all relevant UK legislation.

Supporting policies

Westin Drives has a number of relevant policies which support its aim of ensuring that modern slavery is not taking place in the Company or its supply chains. These include:

    •    Recruitment

    •    Equal Opportunities

    •    Ethical Trading Policy and supplier’s conformance to such
