Prompt repair of a Demag motor

Our engineers have repaired many Demag motors, the sort commonly found on overhead cranes.
Their conical stator and rotor cores make them unique. When the motor stops, a spring pushes the rotor, creating a brake that stops the motor. While stopped, the spring continues to hold the rotor and brake in place, preventing the motor from rotating under load.
For this repair, we faced stator windings that had been overloaded and required rewinding. The process is interesting due to the conical core, but for our skilled winders it is nothing they haven’t seen before, and the rewind was carried out promptly.
A manufacturers’ bearing and seal kit was fitted to the motor, so when it is recommissioned, it will be as good as – if not better than – new.
