A Yorkshire dyeing company that treats fabric for brands like Barbour called on Westin Drives when one of their main lines stopped during production.
The machine refused to restart, with no indication of where the fault lay. Our engineers were just completing the commissioning of an energy-saving pumping system at the Huddersfield stadium when the call was received at 09.30. The fault was diagnosed to be the cooling fan on the main motor which had failed due to ingress of dust. It was removed and taken to be repaired and refurbished at our Huddersfield service centre. The motor’s bearings had collapsed, causing them to spin in the housings and on the shaft, causing wear damage which needed machining work. The repair was completed that day, in time for refitting before 5pm, with filters supplied and fitted on air intake ducts to maximise the reliability of the system.
