How the latest energy-efficient motors can help to save you money

It's time to review your old electric motors and consider upgrading them to new energy- efficient models. You'll be saving money and complying with the latest regulations.
Legislation introduced in July 2021 stipulated that most new motors sold in the UK must meet the IE3 efficiency standard as a minimum. And further regulations are on the way.
From July 2023 IE4 will become the minimum standard for motors rated 75-200 kW (2-4-6 pole). And IE2 will become the minimum level for single-phase motors with 0.12 kW power output and above.
So it makes sense for businesses facing steep rises in electricity costs to start thinking about how to reduce energy consumption. We are already speaking to customers about how they can make relatively quick savings by upgrading their motors and drives to more sustainable, energy-efficient models.
We are an authorised distributor for WEG which carries a range of motors – including models for hazardous areas – rated at IE4. Its Super Premium design, for example, offers from 20% lower losses in comparison to conventional motors. WEG says that investment for the replacement of installed motors by W22 IE4 models yields returns in the short term, resulting not only in energy savings, but also increasing plant reliability and availability.
And its Ultra Premium IE5 permanent magnet motors, with even lower losses than IE4 models, have an impressive rated efficiency of more than 96 per cent.
So please give us a call to find out how your business could benefit from an upgrade.
