CASE STUDY: Heating circulation pump, Bradford

Our technical engineers were contacted about a HVAC problem by the company that services the Bradford offices of a UK-based telecoms firm.
Hot water heating was not reaching the building's fourth and fifth floors, causing complaints from the telecoms staff. With the winter months approaching, a rapid response was required.
Technical Manager, Fraser Lynch, visited the site and quickly found the heating circulation pumps (left, before replacement) were not producing enough head to reach the top floors. As re-manufacturing would have been needed to repair them, it was decided to replace the pumps with new units.
Before leaving site to spec and quote for the job, it was noticed that the control gear for one of the two pumps had failed, so Westin Drives was asked to upgrade all the control gear as part of the service.
The two duty/ standby pumps were obsolete and from a manufacturer that was no longer in service, so GRUNDFOS high efficiency modern equivalents were specified, supplied, installed and tested within three working days – faster than the company could even create a purchase order.
